Meet Sofia

Walking with Purpose

Sofia is joining Walk With Me from Houston, Texas.

She began walking during the pandemic and continued after discovering that walking gave her more than exercise. It became a source of stress relief, reflection, and personal growth.

Sofia’s Story

In 2022, Sofia celebrated her 50th birthday by walking part of the Camino de Santiago, a centuries-old pilgrimage route in Spain. Over the course of one week, she walked approximately 60 miles.

For Sofia, the experience was both spiritual and empowering. It strengthened her connection to walking and showed her how meaningful the journey itself can become.

Today, Sofia continues to walk for exercise and stress relief. She also hopes to complete another spiritual and meditative walk in the future.

“Walking has become a source of exercise, stress relief, and spiritual reflection.”

Sofia’s Walking Updates

Week of August 3–9, 2026

Miles walked: 14

Sofia logged an impressive 14 miles this week, continuing to build consistency and momentum.

Week of August 10–16, 2026

Miles walked: Approximately 6

This week looked different for Sofia.

While taking some well-earned time off, she traveled to Alabama to visit a friend who is dealing with pancreatic cancer. During that trip, Sofia also walked across the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma as part of her experience with the Civil Rights Trail.

That is a powerful reminder that walking can be more than exercise.

Sometimes walking is about friendship.

Sometimes it is about history.

Sometimes it is about showing up for someone else.

Sofia plans to return to her treadmill routine after arriving home. Photos from her Alabama journey may be added soon.

Total reported mileage: Approximately 20 miles

Walk With Sofia

Sofia’s story is a reminder that walking can be more than physical movement. It can provide space to think, recover, reflect, and reconnect with what matters.

We are proud to welcome Sofia to Walk With Me and look forward to following the next part of her journey.

Forward Still Counts.
