The Project Journal is different. It tracks the larger milestones: building the website, shaping the mission, adding new sections, reaching planning goals, creating resources, and watching the Appalachian Trail 2030 project grow over time.

June 2026 — The Journey Finds a Home

TheLongWalkAhead.com became a reality.

This entry marks the beginning of the website itself: purchasing the domain, securing hosting, and building the first version of the site. The trail is still years ahead, but the project now has a home.

June 19, 2026 — Building the Log While Building the Legs

The training plan is starting to take shape, but so is the website itself. After the first two weeks of logging steps and sustained walks, I realized the journal needed to become more useful, not just for me, but for anyone who may eventually follow the project.

This entry reflects the early adjustments to the training log, including tracking sustained walks by time of day, distance, temperature, humidity, pack weight, and surface or route type. It is also a reminder that the site is being built while the training is being built.
