Appalachian Trail Map

The Appalachian Trail stretches approximately 2,200 miles through fourteen states, from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine.

Because this project is planned as a southbound hike, the journey would begin at Mount Katahdin and move south toward Springer Mountain.

A map helps show the scale of the challenge. The trail crosses mountains, forests, road crossings, rivers, trail towns, shelters, and some of the most iconic hiking locations in the eastern United States.

Explore the Trail

For now, the best way to explore the route is through the official Appalachian Trail Conservancy interactive map.
